Netflix has announced that it is all set to reboot the famous ‘Spy Kids’ franchise with Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Everly Carganilla and Connor Esterson in the lead.
The creator and director of the original series, Robert Rodriguez will write, direct and produce the next film. It will be the fifth entry into the franchise and will introduce the audience to a brand new family of spies.
The official longline reads:
“When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world.”
The new Spy Kids film will marks Robert Rodriguez’s second family venture with Netflix, following 2020’s We Can Be Heroes. According to Production Weekly’s report on upcoming projects in development the film is titled, ‘Spy Kids: Armageddon’. However, Netflix hasn’t confirmed the title yet.
The project will be co produced by Skydance Media and Spyglass Media Group.
