Serious Men: Netflix’s new film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Netflix India released a teaser for Serious Men, a new film which will be released on October 2, 2020. The film is based on a book of the same name by Manu Joseph.

Starring the internationally acclaimed actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, as the protagonist Ayyan Mani, and child actor Aakshath Das as Siddiqui’s onscreen son Aadi, Serious Men also stars Shweta Basu Prasad (The Tashkent Files) and Nassar (Baahubali).

Indira Tiwari will be making her debut as the female lead opposite Siddiqui.

Directed by the National Award-winning director Sudhir Mishra, Bhavesh Mandalia has adapted Joseph’s 2010 drama fiction novel for the movie.

Serious Men revolves around Ayyan Mani, who is an ambitious middle-aged underprivileged man living with his wife and young son in the city of Mumbai.

With a view to improving his family’s fortunes, Mani decides to capitalise on his son’s newfound fame as a boy-genius. But, Mani is hiding something which has the power to destroy the very thing that he loves the most.

About his association with Netflix and working with Sudhir Mishra for the first time, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said:

“This is my third project with Netflix and returning to the streaming service always feels like [a] homecoming. I am excited about this film as I waited almost 20 years to work with Sudhir Mishra. It’s a dream come true. I can’t wait for the audience to watch Serious Men and join this journey with me, this Gandhi Jayanti.”

The trailer shows Mani, who’s elated when his son is called the ‘combination of Einstein and BR. Ambedkar’. Not one to let this opportunity pass, he’s hell-bent on taking his son to the top. Will he succeed?
