“The Puerto Rican musical boy band came into existence in 1977 and became Latin America’s most influential group after selling over 20 million records worldwide in the ‘80s alone. Allegations of sexual abuse against group member Diaz initiated the fall in the ‘90s.”
The musical documentary is produced by Soto, Jeff Plunket, Cristina Costantini, Alex Fumero, Bryn Mooser, and Justin Lacob.
Over twelve former band members have recorded their testimonies and interviews for the docuseries.
The narration starts with stage performances and world tour clips, followed by the concept of Menudo’s unique formula of success – replacing individual pop artists once reaching the 16 years age mark. The immense popularity disappears over drugs and sex abuse allegations, to the point that Menudo seizes its existence.
