Marvel Studios has treated the world to the first official teasers for their 3 upcoming Disney+ web series. The 30 second video has almost 2 million views on YouTube at the time of writing and is named the “Big Game” Spot.
The teaser starts off with a snippet from Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan led The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Sam and Bucky teaming up for a full fledged web series to face off against Civil War’s Helmut Zemo is a spectacle in the making.
The series also deals with the aftermath of Steve Rogers handing over the Captain America shield to Sam in Avengers Endgame. The focus then shifts onto the confusing yet intriguing WandaVision.
We see Wanda, played by Elizabeth Olsen in scenarios which look like a figment of someone’s imagination. She also dons the comic-book accurate Scarlet Witch costume for the first time ever. Paul Bettany’s Vision is also present in the bewildering setting with her.
The last few seconds of the clip give us a glimpse of Tom Hiddelston’s Loki in confinement wearing a Time Variance Authority prison uniform. This is a subtle nod to the timeline hopping trickster God theory hinted long ago.
The camera zooms in on Loki’s face as he casually states with an evil smile, “I’m gonna burn this place to the ground.”
This is a new direction Marvel is taking by incorporating brand new web series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like the studio mentions in the Super Bowl spot, “The universe is expanding.”
