Synopsis

“The story begins in 1987, when top East German spy Kleo kills a businessman in West Berlin while on a mission with a secret Stasi commando. Not long after, she is arrested by the Stasi under bogus claims, and denounced and vilified by everyone she knows – even her own grandfather.

“When the Berlin Wall falls, after two years in prison, Kleo is suddenly free. She soon finds out that the conspiracy against her is much bigger than she could have imagined, and an ominous red suitcase seems to be the missing piece of the puzzle.

“Kleo sets out for revenge, on a hunt that leads her through anarchistic Berlin, improvised electro clubs and Majorcan fincas, and finally into the Atacama Desert. All the while, she is followed by West Berlin police officer Sven, who sees the case of his life unfolding before him.”

Other details

The trio of writer-producers of the series go by the name ‘HaRiBo’ and have previously worked together on a TV series called 4 Blocks, and the first German-language Amazon Original called You Are Wanted.

Trailer

From the very start, Kleo stands as the quintessential anti-hero: cunningly charming, extremely skilled, and dedicated to her revenge mission. She exudes energy very similar to Villanelle from Killing Eve, but with more action-packed sequences.

Described as a ‘true story where some of it actually happened,’ Kleo sets out on her quest for revenge.
