Kajol set to make her digital debut with multi-generational film Tribhanga

Bollywood actress Kajol is all set to enter the digital space with a multi-generational Netflix drama titled ‘Tribhanga’.

Produced by her husband’s production house Ajay Devgn Ffilms, it also stars Mithila Palkar, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Tanvi Azmi.

It shifts back and forth between three generations of the same family, from the late 1980s to modern-day.

Aashish Singh, Director, Original Film, Netflix India, told PTI: “It is a very exciting script. Renuka Shahane is an incredible writer. Siddharth P Malhotra is the creative producer on the film.

“We were thinking who should be cast for this film and instantly we all thought Kajol was the best fit. She had not agreed to do anything on OTT before.

“Siddharth took it to her and she loved it instantly. She agreed to do it and spoke to Ajay, who also agreed to it. So the idea of bringing together everyone for this film fructified. It is perfect for Netflix and will definitely resonate with audiences in India and globally.”

No release date for Tribhanga has been revealed yet.

Kajol is the latest Bollywood star to foray into the web space after the likes of Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpayee, Jacky Shroff, among many others.

Netflix also recently allowed that it had acquired the Dharma Productions film ‘Drive’, which will now launch on the streaming platform instead of getting a theatrical release.

The action film stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez as the lead pair.
