BioShock film adaptation announced by Netflix

Netflix has announced an official live-action film adaptation of the popular video game franchise ‘BioShock’. It is set to be directed by Francis Lawrence.

Michael Green will write the screenplay and the platform has partnered with 2K and Take-Two Interactive to produce the adaptation.

Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment, Francis Lawrence for about:blank and 2K, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc, are the producers.

The executive producers include Cameron MacConomy for about:blank and Strauss Zelnick for Take-Two Interactive.

BioShock is an award-winning and critically acclaimed franchise. Its slate includes BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite. It has sold over 39 million copies worldwide.

The franchise combines sci-fi and horror to portray a storyline that has been lauded for pushing the boundaries of storytelling in gaming. The official release date is yet to be decided.
