Afterlife goes digital in Prime Video’s upcoming web series Upload

Amazon Prime Video has released a trailer for a new web series called Upload. Set in a world where the dying can upload themselves into virtual environments, the show is based on the concept where the afterlife is all digital.

The two-minute trailer shows Nathan, a party boy and app developer, getting into a car crash and who now has the option to be uploaded before dying. Nathan chooses to go digital and finds himself in a land that is ever so convenient yet weird in many ways.

The trailer hints at the sci-fi show going all sorts of crazy while having some romantic elements in the mix. The synopsis of Upload is:

From Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) comes Upload, a new sci-fi comedy. In the near future, people who are near death can be “uploaded” into virtual reality environments. Cash-strapped Nora works customer service for the luxurious “Lakeview” digital afterlife. When party-boy/coder Nathan’s car crashes, his girlfriend uploads him into Nora’s VR world.
