Adam Sandler to lead Netflix’s ‘Spaceman Of Bohemia’ adaptation

Adam Sandler has signed on to star in Netflix’s adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfar’s novel Spaceman of Bohemia, with Johan Renck taking the helm, who is also known for his Emmy-winning series Chernobyl.

Colby Day will be translating the book for the screen, with the title still in the works. Netflix took Twitter to make the announcement:

The story follows an astronaut (Sandler) sent to the edge of the galaxy in search of intergalactic dust. During the journey, he discovers comfort in the voice of a mysterious creature lurking in the shadows of his ship, from the beginning of time.

The film will be bankrolled by Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan and Michael Parets, with Ben Ormand, Renck and Barry Bernardi joining as executive producers.

Talking about the upcoming project and his partnership with Sandler, the director said in a statement:

“As we prepare for our voyage to Chopra, I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the perfect partner in Adam. And now, with the support of the brilliant Netflix family, I am profoundly excited to set off on our impossible journey.”

Netflix and Sandler’s multi-picture deal signed in 2015 has brought a slew of comedies, however, this latest addition will ensure a change in pace. Hubie Halloween was the latest instalment of the actor’s extended deal with the streamer.

Presently, Sandler is gearing up for his upcoming sports comedy, Hustle, on Netflix. Earlier this week, it was announced that the film roped in Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, and Robert Duvall as cast members.
