Det är dags att komma ikapp med svenskt innehåll or it’s time to catch up on Swedish content.

If you’re looking to learn Swedish, there are at least a handful of Netflix titles you might try to give your life a Swedish flavour.

Even if you’re not looking to learn, the titles might provide you with new insights and views, nevertheless. Here is a curated list of five Swedish web series to get you started with.

Störst av allt

Cast: Hanna Ardéhn, Felix Sandman, William Spetz, Ella Rappich, David Dencik, Reuben Sallmander, Maria Sundbom, Rebecka Hemse, Arvid Sand, Helena af Sandeberg, Anna Björk

Quicksand, or Störst av allt, is a crime drama based on Malin Persson’s 2016 novel of the same name. The narrative was created to represent real-life class differences in Sweden, as seen by the novel’s writers.

Djursholm senior high school is the scene of a school shooting. Maja Norberg, who is 18 years old, is arrested and charged with murder. The protagonist confesses to the murder early on, but rejects the act; the trial is focused on why the murder was done rather than if it was committed.

Bonusfamiljen

Cast: Vera Vitali, Erik Johansson, Fredrik Hallgren

The sitcom follows a slightly dysfunctional family as a new marriage, their exes, and both of their children navigate the emotional and logistical obstacles of family life in Sweden.

Agent Hamilton

Cast: Jakob Oftebro, Krister Henriksson, Peter Andersson

The series is centered on a sequence of cyber-attacks and explosions that occur in Stockholm, Sweden’s capital. Agent Hamilton, a former member of the Swedish Security Service, is hired to investigate the events as they happen. When Agent Carl Hamilton finds that the criminal behind the assaults may have ties to Russian, Swedish, and American intelligence organizations, he embarks on one of his most difficult assignments ever.

Young Royals

Cast: Edvin Ryding, Omar Rudberg, Samuel Astor

After a major incident involving Prince Wilhelm, the season follows him as he enrols in a boarding school. He must deal with socializing with other kids his age while also concealing his developing sexuality and sudden interest in one of his classmates. When tragedy strikes, Prince Wilhelm is forced to choose between duty and love.

Caliphate

Cast: Gizem Erdoğan, Amed Bozan, Aliette Opheim, Albin Grenholm

The story is based on the real-life case of the Bethnal Green trio. Fatima, a Swedish Security Service operative, Pervin, a young Swedish lady enticed into Syria, and Sulle, an outspoken adolescent trained by the Islamic State/ISIL, are among the characters featured in the television version. Islamic extremism, terrorism, conflicts within Islam and among Muslims, women’s rights, and human rights are all explored and revolved around in the narrative.
