Yoon Eun-Sung, one of the devious mechanics of utter doom for the Queens family, has been vying to get Hong Hae-In all his life. The latest episode sees him pull another diabolical move to alienate her from her loved ones and take her all for himself.
After Hyun-Woo and her family’s desperate pleas and heart-wrenching attempts, Hong Hae-In finally decides to go through the surgery.
Before going under anesthesia, she repeats Hyun-Woo’s name so that it registers in her subconscious and she can still remember him even after the surgery when she would have lost all her long-term memory.
However, before this treatment, the couple’s greatest enemy, Yoon Eun-Sung, has already cooked up his devious plan to foil their love story and ensure Hae-In completely forgets about her love and family.
Yoon Eun-Sung goes to Germany
Eun-Sung’s first move is to immediately depart for Germany and ensure his presence when Hae-In wakes up after her surgery.
It is crucial who the first face she sees at that time is, and Eun-Sung knows that just as well as Hae-In and Hyun-Woo do before the surgery.
Hyun-Woo promises he’d be right there when she opens up her eyes, but he can’t keep that promise, thanks to Eun-Sung’s plan that is put in motion just at the most unfortunate time.
Yeon Seong-Uk, the goon that Eun-Sung had hired to kill Hyun-Woo, and who had failed to do so, had become a prick for him.
Eun-Sung gets him killed and stages the incident to appear as if Hyun-Woo has killed the man and fled to Germany.
The plan unfolds
The police arrive just as an anesthetized Hae-In is wheeled into the operating room.
Eun-Sung arrives to scoff and taung Hyun-Woo, telling him he’s protecting his woman from a criminal, as Hyun-Woo is detained and carried out of the hospital.
Hae-In wakes up after her surgery, and it’s shown how most of her memories have been burnt away as the procedure takes place. A clueless Hae-In sees Eun-Sung for her first face.
He immediately tries to lie to her and manipulate her, even as the first words out of her mouth are Baek Hyun-Woo — the only thing she can remember.
Post-op developments
Yoon Eun-Sung tells Hae-in that he and her used to date in college, before breaking up when she married Baek Hyun-Woo. He further tells her that she divorced Hyun-Woo who still stalks her and is now a criminal.
She is a blank slate and this expository dump is a bit overwhelming for her. Meanwhile, Hyun-Woo spends his time in jail, restless and frustrated that he can’t be with his love.
However, hope remains for the couple as Hae-In feels incredible pangs of sweet pain when she looks at her nail paint, sitting in front of the window, as the first snow of the season falls.
She can still remember the feelings associated with these, and the love of her life, Hyun-Woo. That is something Yoon Eun-Sung never accounted for.
