Xing: The Brothers Sun character explained

Xing is a supporting character in the Netflix series, The Brothers Sun. Jenny Yang plays the gruff enforcer in the show.

After Charles Sun leaves Taipei for LA to protect his mother and younger brother, he takes care of a number of foes in his brutish ways.

There are too many enemies for him to contend with alone, though, and so he’s soon helped by the arrival of two of his old-time friends from Taipei.

Blood Boots and Xing are these two friends who work as enforcers for Jade Dragons.

The serious one

Blood Boots and Xing are the first two enforcers working for the triad Jade Dragons that the viewers meet in season 1.

The two interact like they’re straight out of a buddy-cop movie, except they’re the spiritual opposites of police; they’re ruthless gangsters.

Whereas Blood Boots is shown to be just as warm and cheerful a person as he’s ruthless in his gangster ways, Xing is quite the opposite, in that she’s rather frugal with the laughs and smiles.

One atypical trait of hers is that she loves Hamilton and raves about the play, and after attending Bruce’s improv show, she remarks that there wasn’t enough rapping in it.

Loyal to a fault

When Blood Boots dies, it comes as a shock to the Sun family, as well as to Xing, who sits alone, mourning her long-time work partner in silence.

Like Blood Boots, she is initially committed to protecting the Sun family. However, more than Charles, Eileen, and Bruce, she is loyal to Big Sun, almost to a fault.

So when Big Sun orders her to go kill his wife Eileen and their younger son Bruce, she spends no time questioning or entertaining any doubts.

She fails to finish the job, as Eileen shocks her with fighting skills and tenacity, ultimately killing the enforcer with a cable.
