Woo Chae-woon: Blood Free character explained

In Blood Free, Woo Chae-woon is a former soldier on a mission to uncover the identity of a terrorist. Ju Ji-hoon plays Chae-woon.

Woo Chae-woon once served in the Naval Intelligence Command. After that, he opted to be deployed overseas following his failure to prevent a ransomware attack.

While overseas, he was assigned the responsibility of escorting President Lee Mun-gyu, who had made a surprise visit to troops deployed abroad.

During the visit, a terrorist attack took place. Several people lost their lives in the attack, including those who were close to Chae-woon.

Additionally, Chae-woon failed to protect the president. The president had to step down due to the injuries he suffered.

Determined to find the person behind the attack, Chae-woon resolved to uncover the truth.

Yun Ja-yu’s new bodyguard

It is suspected that one of the four CEOs who had accompanied the president on the day of the attack is responsible for it.

Chae-woon investigates the matter by getting a job as the bodyguard of CEO Park of Sanghwa, one of the four suspects.

After working closely with him, Chae-woon quits his job when he is convinced that Park is not the culprit, even though Park tries to dissuade him from quitting.

Chae-woon’s efforts get the attention of Lee Mun-gyu, who now wishes to aid him. He gets Chae-woon an invite to a BF event.

The CEO of BF is Yun Ja-yu, one of the CEOs suspected of being behind the attack. Lee Mun-gyu tells Chae-woon that he is convinced Yun Ja-yu is the culprit they are after.

Lee Mun-gyu asks Chae-woon to work for Yun Ja-yu, earn her trust, and uncover her secrets to expose her crimes, but Chae-woon does not want to take anyone down.

After the BF event, Yun Ja-yu is attacked, and Chae-woon is there to help. As threats against Yun Ja-yu increase, she considers hiring a new bodyguard.

Lee Mun-gyu takes the opportunity to arrange an interview for Chae-woon for the position, Chae-woon proves that he will be a capable bodyguard by excelling in all the tests.

Once he passes the assessment that tests his loyalty, he gets hired as Yun Ja-yu’s bodyguard. Yun Ja-yu decides to trust him and tells him about the ransomware problem that her company is facing.

Having seen a similar attack during his time at the Naval Intelligence Command enables Chae-woon to help Yun Ja-yu identify the real perpetrator, proving his worth in the process.

Time and time again, Chae-woon proves to be resourceful to Yun Ja-yu, who comes to trust him after initially suspecting him.

Although Chae-woon is expected to follow the orders of Lee Mun-gyu, who has an ulterior motive, Chae-woon is unwilling to unjustly accuse Yun Ja-yu.

Chae-woon seeks to confirm Yun Ja-yu’s involvement before accepting Lee Mun-gyu’s claim about her being responsible for the terrorist attack, a process that challenges his loyalties.
