In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Natalia Verdugo is the deputy director at Monarch who calls the shots. Mirelly Taylor plays Natalia Verdugo.
Since G-Day, Verdugo has been making note of every minor report that comes to Monarch.
Hence, when Monarch employee Collins receives an alert about someone accessing Bill Randa’s files, after notifying Tim, she asks whether she should report this to Verdugo.
However, Tim, a not-so-well-respected Monarch employee, decides to run an unauthorized operation to get his hands on those files and the people who have accessed them.
Verdugo’s perception of Bill Randa’s files
The reason Tim goes rogue has to do with how Verdugo and the entire Monarch look at Bill Randa’s files. For them, these files are full of crackpot theories and fairytales.
Verdugo can be considered a great leader, but she continues to dismiss Bill Randa’s files. Lee’s escape is where she starts thinking that there might be some truth in those files.
When Monarch is told about a radiation similar to the one before G-Day in Alaska, a meeting is arranged between higher officials. Tim has to shout out loud to convince them and Verdugo that they can’t ignore Bill Randa’s files.
Monarch, Cate, Kentaro, and May join hands
Verdugo’s team gets their hands on Lee, Cate, Kentaro, and May. However, Verdugo continues to treat them as criminals when she should be listening to them.
While Cate, Kentaro, and May are let go, as they clearly don’t know what they are dealing with, Verdugo keeps Lee in captivity, hoping to get some answers from him.
Lee never gives Verdugo a clear answer and continues to claim that Monarch has been wrong all along.
Verdugo’s own soldier, Duvall, turns on the organization and frees Lee, believing that Monarch isn’t going anywhere and that it’s Lee who has all the answers.
To get to Lee, Verdugo is forced to help Cate and Kentaro free May, who has been kidnapped by AET, the company May used to work at, for erasing their data and crashing their system.
Following that, Verdugo also brings Monarch out of the shadows, informs the world about them and their alert system, and promises that they will survive the inescapable reality of the monsters together.
