Skeletor’s past in Masters of the Universe: Revolution explained

Skeletor’s origin in Masters of the Universe: Revolution maintains the original lore from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

In his final moments, King Randor mentions that he has lost a brother during a lifetime and that brother returns to Eternia following Randor’s death.

Keldor belonged to the Gar race and was King Miro’s illegitimate son. Despite being Miro’s firstborn, Gar would never be allowed to ascend the throne because of his parentage.

The Queen tells Miro that Keldor would live a better life back home rather than watch as Randor claims a right not extended to him.

Keldor was thought to have perished after his home was attacked by Hordak and his army, but the reality is significantly different.

Manipulated to serve

Skeletor takes on the guise of Keldor and wins over Adam and the people of Eternia. He is then crowned the King per Hordak’s plan.

Skeletor praises the tyrant’s plan, and Hordak says that it worked because they took advantage of a long-forgotten truth.

Motherboard is insulted by Skeletor’s interruption during her report to Hordak and she punishes him afterwards.

She crushes his head and threatens to shut him down permanently if he oversteps again. However, her attack unlocks memories that were previously suppressed.

Skeletor sees visions of Keldor, who reminds him that they are the same person. When Hordak attacked Keldor’s home, Keldor was recruited as an apprentice.

Hordak trained Keldor in the dark arts and granted him the Ha’vok staff, which turned him into Skeletor.

Skeletor later tells Adam that Hordak had those memories suppressed and made him believe that he was an extradimensional demon to ensure his loyalty.
