In GOOD NIGHT WORLD, President Leon of the Granada Company in PLANET is responsible for summoning the Black Bird. Ryōhei Kimura voices Leon.
President Leon’s Granada Company is a guild comprising 5,000 members. The Granada is all about business, and the Akabane Family is their trading ally.
Even though Granada comes to the Akabane Family’s rescue, Ichi suspects President Leon’s true intentions. For the majority of the time, Leon keeps switching sides, and he claims that he isn’t playing to win 300 million yen but just for his love for PLANET.
Leon makes it clear that he cares a lot about the players who play this game. In fact, he sees this as a legitimate society and despises people who think of PLANET as a game made for fun.
Leon’s true identity and his goal
A kid named Seishiro Kikusaka plays PLANET as President Leon. He is able to summon the Black Bird because his best friend, who is also his very first friend, Sasumata, is the Black Bird. Sasumata is a very powerful AI installed by Kojiro inside the game.
Out of all the AIs in the game, only Sasumata is aware of what it is. When Kojiro begins killing all the AIs in the game, Leon fears that he is going to lose his first and only friend, as all these AIs are Sasumata’s power sources.
Leon believes Sasumata is still learning about itself, and the likes of Sasumata are no less than humans. He intends to create a world where humans and the likes of Sasumata can breathe the same air.
With the help of Sasumata, Leon forces 70% of the real world’s population to log into PLANET. They bring them into the Birdcage, a place where Sasumata, the Black Bird, is the operating system. Nobody can touch them in the Birdcage, as Sasumata is the god in this world.
Leon’s fate at the end of GOOD NIGHT WORLD
Leon and Sasumata create a kingdom of their own in the Birdcage. They assure people that the PLANET’s monsters won’t attack them if they join their Granada Kingdom.
However, he fails to save Sasumata when Kojiro turns himself into a virus for the Black Bird’s operating system. Even Sasumata dies willingly after learning about the identity it was supposed to take.
Eight years later, Seishiro Kikusaka, who used to play as Leon in PLANET, is seen working for Taichiro’s company.
