Lee Shaw: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters character explained

In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Lee Shaw is a military officer who worked with Keiko and Billy. Wyatt Russell plays a young Lee, while Kurt Russell plays the older version of the character.

Lieutenant Leland Lafayette Shaw III, also known as Lee, is a military officer who aids Keiko and Billy while they hunt for ancient monsters that reside on Earth.

He first meets Keiko Miura in 1952, when he is ordered to be her escort in the Philippines. Lee is one of those who always tries to do the right thing. He gets this security escort assignment after fighting one of his army brothers for making a girl uncomfortable.

Lee’s relationship with Keiko and Billy

Lee and Keiko start off on the wrong foot. Lee struggles to recognize that Keiko is the scientist he is supposed to escort; he was expecting a man to show up. Instead of arguing with Lee, Keiko shows off how tough she is.

Lee and Keiko bump into William ‘Billy’ Randa, a US Navy vet who is also a cryptozoologist, in the jungle. While Billy convinces Keiko that they are investigating the same radiation, Lee finds it hard to trust Billy.

Keiko dismisses Lee because she wants to work with Billy. Lee returns to save them from a MUTO after seeing the phenomenon that Billy told them about in the sky.

Lee assists Keiko and Billy for years to come while they keep Monarch together. They go on various monster-hunting expeditions and grow close as a family.

In the future

In 2015, Kentaro and Cate find Billy’s top secret files. Kentaro also comes across a file on Lee later. It suggests that he is living in an assisted living facility. Monarch comes hunting Cate and Kentaro down for those files. Cate and Kentaro try to stay away from them.

Kentaro believes that Lee can be of some help, and they find Lee at the same assisted living facility. Monarch has held Lee captive, but he says he is willing to escape because he too wants to find out what happened to Cate and Kentaro’s father, Hiroshi.
