Lee Seong-Jo: A Shop for Killers character explained

Lee Seong-Jo is a cold-blooded antagonist in the Disney+ action drama, A Shop for Killers. Seo Hyun-Woo plays the elite sniper in the show.

Lee Seong-Jo is the face of the threat that Jeong Ji-An faces shortly after she’s done with the funeral of her uncle, who she just found out ran a shopping mall for assassins.

Seong-Jo leads the band of assassins, all ruthless and elite in their skills, as he snipes at Ji-An, who is trapped at her uncle’s house where she grew up.

Loyalties

Lee Seong-Jo was a member of the assassin team working under the leadership of Jeong Jin-Man, who all worked for an organization called Babylon.

While Jin-Man followed the rules and respected them, the men loyal to him made him part of the team.

The other part of the team listened to the psychopathic Bale, a mercenary who has no regard for protocol, or the lives of the civilians who have nothing to do with his mission.

He relishes killing them and Seong-Jo doesn’t say a word to anyone else, even joining Bale in killing the unarmed civilians.

Eccentricities

Seong-Jo likes to talk a lot about how being an orphan made him see his colleagues as his one true family.

However, those are just empty words as he helps kill one of their own who witnesses Bale killing civilians and is obviously terrified of it.

So that he doesn’t let this out and create a problem for them, Seong-Jo makes light of the situation as Bale shoots him dead.

Like most of the team members, he believes that he’s going to hell, as their job entails a destiny like that after death.

As his trademark, he likes to say “attain enlightenment” anytime someone dies or kills someone.

Another one of his qualities is that he likes to steal things. Valuables like expensive watches and rings with precious stones grab his eyes.

The day he goes to hell

After failing to kill Ji-An or So Min-Hye with his sniper shots, Lee Seong-Jo mobilizes another band of assassins and eventually himself.

He is joined by his longtime collaborators and strong friends, the assassin twins.

He makes his way into the house and then into the shopping mall.

However, Ji-An manages to outsmart him and set him ablaze.

The sprinkler system douses out the fire after he’s sustained severe burns. However, he lives.

Ji-An points a gun at him but he feels confident in the face of death, believing her hesitation to shoot will remain.

However, Ji-An finally overcomes her hesitation and shoots him, point blank, in his head, effectively killing him right then and there.
