Princess Issa: Rebel Moon character explained

In Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire, Princess Issa of Motherworld is remembered for her kindness and special powers. Stella Grace Fitzgerald plays Princess Issa.

Unlike the other rulers of the Motherworld, Princess Issa is the only one who is remembered by people. The rumor is that she was special.

Princess Issa was called the Chalice or the Redeemer. JC-1435 claims that, even before she was born, he and his brothers pledged everything they were—everything that dwells in their metal skin—to fight in her name.

According to JC-1435, she was to usher in a new age of peace and compassion.

Princess Issa’s superpowers

When Kora was a soldier of the Motherworld, the word of her victories reached her adopted father, Balisarius, and the King.

Kora was promoted to the Elite Guard of the Royal Family, thanks to Balisarius pulling strings. Kora received the honor of becoming Princess Issa’s bodyguard.

Princess Issa was named after an ancient Queen Issa, the Lifegiver. The stories of Queen Issa mention that the queen had the power to give life.

Kora says that it all felt like a metaphor created in response to generations of war and conquest.

Yet those stories stayed with people, who started believing that Princess Issa also harnessed the same powers.

Staying by Issa’s side, even Kora, on more than one occasion, saw things that she couldn’t explain—she saw the princess revive a dead bird.

Princess Issa’s possible death

Kora reveals that the King had faith in Princess Issa. He believed that she would bring the compassion that he had lost after years of war once she becomes queen.

Unfortunately, Princess Issa, along with the King and Queen of the Motherworld, were assassinated by the ones they trusted the most on the day of her coronation.

In Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, it is revealed that Balisarius plotted the assassination of the royal family.

Following her adopted father’s orders, Kora killed Princess Issa. Balisarius then betrayed Kora and framed her for the deaths.

Kora still carries the guilt of killing Princess Issa, who forgave her before Kora pulled the trigger on her.

At the end of Part Two, General Titus reveals that Princess Issa is still alive; she can’t be killed that easily, giving Kora a new purpose: to find Princess Issa.
