Ishida’s death in Tokyo Vice explained

Ishida is the head of the Chihara-kai Yakuza group and after multiple attempts on his life, he finally succumbs to his enemies.

Ishida is on high alert ever since Tozawa’s return and he asks Hayama and Sato to go procure some guns in case a war begins.

Meanwhile, he gives Samantha the task of digging some information out of one of her clients and she agrees on a deal where she gets full control of the club if she can get what he needs.

Due to Hayama’s recklessness, their contact is killed and they are unable to get the guns. However, Sato has been collecting guns for a few weeks and he offers to cover for Hayama.

Samantha goes out on a date with her client, Masahita Ohno, an architect who has plans for a government project and its location which is kept a secret.

Ishida wishes to buy up the land around the project before the land rates rise. Samantha finds out the location but Masahita catches her before she leaves.

Planning for the future

Masahita listens to Samantha’s reasoning and then gives her an alternate option to bring to Ishida.

They release the location of the project to the press so that information becomes worthless, then plan to provide an alternate project that will be similarly lucrative.

They set up a meeting with Ishida at Samantha’s club, and he asks Sato to be there with him in case things get rough.

On the ride there, Ishdia asks Sato the truth about what happened with Hayama. He then tells Sato that when he dies, Sato will take over the Chihara kai.

In the club, Ishdia agrees to Masahita and Samantha’s proposal, but they are interrupted by two masked individuals who fire at the Chihara kai head.

Masahita takes a bullet to the head and dies on the spot. Samantha scrambles to safety and spots a distinct tattoo on one of the shooter’s wrist.

Ishida tells Sato to stay alive, then faces off against the shooters head on. The shooters kill him and make a run for it while Sato goes to his side and holds him in his final moments.
