Imaad Ali: Kho Gaye Hum Kahan character explained

Imaad Ali is a comedian whose past keeps him from falling in love. In Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Siddhant Chaturvedi plays Imaad.

Imaad is good at what he does, but he has yet to gain recognition for his art. Unlike his friends, Imaad is not interested in dating anyone.

He goes on a lot of dates, but they all culminate in one-night stands. As he has no intention of being in a relationship, he does not even tell his dates his real name.

Running from the past

When Imaad was ten years old and his father was still grieving his mother’s death, his father’s business partner sexually abused Imaad.

The abuse continued for a while. Due to that, it shaped Imaad into someone who is scared of trusting others and letting them in.

He keeps avoiding intimacy and running from his past. Imaad does not even tell his childhood friends about what happened to him because he blames himself.

It has been 15 years, but Imaad is still ashamed of talking about his past. His father forces him to take therapy, but Imaad does not even open up to his therapist.

Dealing with the past

Imaad meets a girl named Simran, a photographer who wishes to interview him for her project. It does not take Imaad long to develop feelings for Simran.

Imaad often uses his art to speak his mind, so when he sees that his friend’s girlfriend is not serious about their relationship, he writes a comedy set on their relationship.

This offends his friend, Neil, who points out that Imaad cannot handle intimacy, among other things. Neil’s words hurt him.

Imaad starts falling in love with Simran, but he does not stop going on dates with other girls. When Simran finds out that Imaad is still seeing other girls, she ends their relationship.

Imaad does not cope well with losing Simran. However, this leads to Imaad opening up to his therapist and admitting that he has a problem.

Tired of feeling ashamed of his past, Imaad decides to confront it in the best way he knows—through his art.

Imaad now seeks a healthy relationship with Simran, so he decides to be honest with her. Simran gives Imaad another chance, and they start afresh.
