Kim Seon-Young, the late mother of Jin I-Soo, died when he was just a little child, but the real cause of her death has been hidden from I-Soo all these years.
Jin I-Soo is the younger chaebol from a wealthy family that owns Hansu Group.
His mother was from a humble background, and passed away when he was only seven.
He loves his mother a lot and remembers her fondly, except for the part about her passing away, which he misremembers as being a car accident.
The tragic death
Gang-Hyun reads about I-Soo’s mother’s death in the investigation report on her work computer.
It is titled a “woman’s suicide case in Gangha 1-dong, Investigation report.”
Jin I-Soo was just seven years old when his mother died.
She was found drowned in a bathtub at 34/5 Gangha 1-dong, I-Soo’s childhood home that he has recently moved back into.
It was a suicide case, according to the investigation report, which also states that she was taking sleeping pills.
She was suffering from long-term depression and the sleeping pills are what caused her death.
Effects on Jin I-Soo
Jin I-Soo was found next to the bathtub when the police arrived and Gang-Hyun’s father was the detective in charge.
He also carried a semi-conscious and traumatized I-Soo out of the house.
Recently, he was reminded of the case and I-Soo when he learned who he was while tending to his plants.
Previously when Gang-Hyun asked Jin I-Soo how his mom died, he told her it was due to a car accident.
He also says he can’t even remember it, which means somebody told him that it was a car accident after her mother’s death.
When Gang-Hyun asks him about the case later on, he tells her that Jin I-Soo couldn’t even talk at first when they found him near his dead mother.
He had learned that I-Soo got an aphasia from from the shock.
He would go on to get psychiatric treatment for it, which would cause his aphasia but also make him forget how his mother died.
