Hong Hae-In is given an ultimatum by Eun-Sung, who learns about her disease. She’s to come back to Queens and her position will be reinstated, if she wants her ex-husband to not suffer from false allegations of malpractice.
Queen of Tears offers one of its special moments in episode 10 when right before it concludes, Hae-In causes a ballistic turn of events.
The episode begins with Eun-Sung surprising her at Yongdu-Ri, after learning about her whereabouts.
He continues his creepy ravings about her and his desire for her. He shocks her again by revealing that he knows about her disease.
He says he’ll be the one who saves her, not Hyun-Woo. She doesn’t have time to entertain any more of his ravings until he mentions Hyun-Woo.
Eun-Sung’s ultimatum
Eun-Sung intends to sabotage his position at the company by framing him for malpractice. He’s already gotten him moved out of his office to a much smaller one.
She expressed contempt and disgust at his tactics but the unhinged Eun-Sung takes it as a compliment if anything, unrelenting in his slimy strategies.
Later when she learns about what has happened to Hyun-Woo and that he suffered this humiliation at the office because of her, she decides to entertain Eun-Sung’s desire.
Hong Hae-In’s decision
She returns to the company and eventually addresses the media along with Eun-Sung, who announces her reinstatement at the company, dispelling the “absurd” rumors about himself.
Before this conference, Baek Hyun-Woo tries to stop her but Hong Hae-in pays little heed, staying singular in what she wants to do as always.
The last announcement to be made has to do with Eun-Sung’s marriage to Hong Hae-In. He’s saved that one for the last.
When it comes to reading the prepared script off the teleprompter, Hong Hae-In takes a momentary pause, and as Hyun-Woo turns back to walk away heartbroken, she resumes talking.
The bombshell twist
Instead of reading the script, she flips it and goes freestyle.
She tells the hall full of media reporters and press individuals that Eun-Sung threatened to falsely charge and put Baek Hyun-Woo behind bars.
She also reveals to the press, and the world, that her days are numbered, which is why she can’t return to the department store its CEO.
The room is instantly abuzz with flashes and chatter of the reporters. Another loud element there is the expression of disbelief, shock, and hurt that Eun-Sung is left with.
She did it for love
Back at Yongdu-Ri before all of this, Hyun-Woo has returned home drunk, plucking leaves off a twig and playing a game of “She likes me, she likes me not.”
He ends up with a “She likes me,” just as he stops by the door of his room. Right at that time, Hong Hae-In is about to open the door to get out and is stopped by his voice.
He’s delighted at the indication that Hae-in likes him. However, he doesn’t just like her, he loves her. He says it out aloud, made cuter by his drunken stupor.
Hearing “I love you, Hae-In” from behind the door, melts her heart to the core. This is what gives her the final push to do what she does at the press conference.
