Hayama: Tokyo Vice character explained

Hayama is Ishida’s second-in-command who is released from prison after a long time. Yōsuke Kubozuka plays the character.

Hayama returns from a prison stint and is restored as Ishida’s second-in-command and Sato’s superior.

He doesn’t have the same calm demeanor as Ishida and is prone to reckless actions very often.

In the fight against Tozawa’s clan, Hayama wants to take them head-on, but Ishida proposes restraint.

When Hayama finds out about Sato’s brother, Kaito, he tries to bring in Kaito to the Yakuza despite Sato’s reluctance.

A loose cannon

Ishida agrees that they might require guns in the oncoming war, so he sends Hayama and Sato to the mountains to meet up with a former brother.

Hayama knows the contact closely and the two get drunk together while Sato tries to make sure they don’t do anything stupid.

Hayama gets into an argument with the contact and kills him. They burn his house down to get rid of evidence and Hayama asks Sato to cover for him.

Sato says he has a solution but only if Hayama stays away from Kaito. Sato had been stockpiling weapons beforehand and they brought that to Ishida.

Katagiri warns Hayama not to go wild in the streets

Following Ishida’s demise, Hayama assumes control, despite Ishida’s confidential declaration to Sato expressing his wish for Sato to succeed him.

With the leadership of the clan in his grasp, Hayama tightens his grip on Kaito, determined to escalate the conflict with Tozawa.

The streets become a battleground, awash with blood as the violence surges.

Sato attempts to persuade Kaito of the dangers inherent in their Yakuza life, revealing to him the details of a murder that took place in the mountains.

Unfortunately, their conversation is overheard by another gang member who reports Sato’s disparaging comments about Hayama.

In response, Hayama exiles Sato, threatening harm to his brother should he resist.

Sato is banished, but he is determined to get him out of there. He faces off against Hayama when Kaito reveals that Hayama killed one of their own.

Sato beats Hayama down, and then all the Chihara Kai members kill Hayama together as punishment for his betrayal.
