Damián: Berlin character explained

In Berlin, Damián is a university professor who is also a criminal mastermind on Berlin’s team. Tristán Ulloa plays Damián.

Damián lives a double life as a professor and criminal mastermind. Much like all geniuses in the world, even he is a little absent-minded.

Hence, at times, his two lives are in danger of crossing paths with each other. Berlin sees Damián as someone with whom he can share stories of his personal life.

Though Damián tries to guide Berlin when it comes to love, he warns him not to pursue Camille, the wife of the person they are going to rob, as it will complicate their mission.

Damián’s fairytale love story

Damián is quite proud of his marriage. He has been with his wife for 24 years. He likes to think a person needs to find the right match.

Before his marriage, he had two bad affairs. Finding love takes time, and once one has found it, it’s forever.

Damián doesn’t agree with Berlin when the latter says that love fades away and that it is there only at the beginning, where one is always thinking about their lover.

For Damián, true love is what comes after that stage, when the spell is over, and to love someone, one must truly know them.

Damián’s trauma

During their heist in Paris, Damián faces the big challenge of separation from his wife, a day he never thought would have come.

Damián’s fairy tale story comes to an end with his wife, Carmen, calling him to inform him that she wants to separate.

Carmen doesn’t know about his criminal life. Damián is always away for work, and that has led her to this decision.

The revelation scars Damián. He plans to go back home and win her back.

However, Cameron warns him that she could have already moved on with someone else, considering that she has dared to call him and tell him on the phone.

Damián moves on

For a while, Damián copes with the trauma of losing the love of his life. It affects him mentally and also causes minor bumps during the heist when he ends up in an argument with Berlin.

Damián eventually finds someone who is attracted to him while he, Cameron, and Roi are hiding at a camping site.

This woman understands Damián’s pain and describes him as someone who is masculine as well as sensitive.

After one last attempt to save his marriage, Damián realizes that he is worth more than a simple, trivial affair, accepts Carmen’s decision, and moves on with the new person he has found.

Unfortunately, he has to leave her when the cops come looking for them. Following that, Damián asks Roi to activate Plan Suricate.

While Roi and Cameron escape together, Damián goes to Paris to rescue Berlin. Damián and Berlin are the last to reach the place where the team reunites.

Damián has learned that love can happen in one day with a stranger. Meanwhile, his friend, Berlin, has learned the opposite and now agrees with Damián’s opinion from before.

Berlin wants to find love that doesn’t fade away. Damián convinces him that there is always an end when he tells him about his separation.

In the end, Berlin approaches Damián again for another heist after giving his share to Camille.
