The jury has spoken. The nominations are out. And now we play the waiting game. The countdown for the 92nd Academy Awards has officially commenced.
The nominees in every category are looking uncompromisingly resolute, with incredible films taking up all the top spots on the list. But the icing on the cake in this year’s nominations is that some glorious original Netflix productions have also found themselves placed among the list of contenders for the prestigious golden statuette.
Scorsese’s The Irishman alone has received 10 nominations, the second most after box-office sensation Joker that bagged 11. Similarly, Marriage Story has 6 nominations to its name.
