How is Woo Chae-woon’s life saved in Blood Free?

In Blood Free, Ja-yu uses BF’s futuristic technology to save Chae-woon’s life after he is mortally wounded.

An attack on Ja-yu’s life leads to her bodyguard, Chae-woon, getting shot twice. It is believed that he might not make it.

Instead of taking him to the hospital, Ja-yu brings him to a secret lab, which is accessible to only a select few, in BF’s basement.

There, with the assistance of Seo, On, and Hong, Ja-yu treats him using a machine equipped with her artificial intelligence.

A successful but controversial procedure

A medical scan of Chae-woon’s body reveals that his heart is barely beating, but he does not need an organ transplant.

As a result, Ja-yu decides to test her cultured tissues on him, despite Hong’s opposition, who believes they are not ready for use yet.

Ja-yu is confident that their first clinical trial will be a success. Ja-yu’s team gives him a blood transfusion of cultured blood.

In addition, they apply cultured muscle fibers to the bullet’s exit wound, fractured ribs, and ruptured muscles, miraculously causing the exit wound to disappear.

Initially, Chae-woon’s immune system seems to reject the blood and tissues, but they fuse eventually, indicating that the procedure is a success.

Ja-yu manages to save Chae-woon’s life, but when he regains consciousness, he is not happy about Ja-yu using him as a test subject.

Chae-woon is aware that the procedure comes with its own side effects. The cultured blood can affect the red blood cell count and cause a heart attack.

The cultured blood from BF has not yet been approved through the screening test, yet he received a transfusion.

Additionally, the cultured muscle fibers can cause excessive cell division, resulting in further cell cycle issues. These are just a few of the side effects that Ja-yu’s team knows about.

Chae-woon had a damaged ear from the time he was injured in the AZORAN explosion. On treats his ear as well without informing Ja-yu.

On implants a chip, which comes in the form of electronic skin, in Chae-woon’s ear, allowing him to hear sounds that humans cannot.

The chip is not illegal but is still under development. On does not know how to set the chip and ends up setting it to the highest level.

This improvement in hearing causes Chae-woon to have to wear noise-canceling earphones because everything is too loud. Even with those on, he can still hear perfectly.

As a result, Chae-woon is not only unhappy about being experimented on without his consent but also about the fact that Ja-yu is developing cultured organs.

Chae-woon’s rapid recovery serves as proof for people like Chairman Seonu, who want to get their hands on her products, that Ja-yu has succeeded.
