Netflix launches website for Top 10 lists across countries

Netflix has launched a new website to track its metrics and give fans a glimpse at what’s trending and what’s most popular on the streaming platform from anywhere in the world.

Speaking about the basic functions of the website, Pablo Perez De Rosso, VP, Content Strategy, Planning & Analysis, stated: “We will publish our new weekly ‘Top 10 on Netflix’ every Tuesday based on hours viewed from Monday to Sunday the previous week for both original and licensed titles.”

The weekly lists will be in addition to Top 10 lists based by country as well as ‘Top 10 of All Time’ lists which will be updated on a regular basis as titles pick up more hours viewed.

On choosing the right metric to measure, De Rosso added: “Having looked at the different options, we believe engagement, as measured by hours viewed, is a strong indicator of a title’s popularity. In addition, hours viewed mirrors the way third parties measure popularity, encompasses rewatch (a strong sign of member joy), and can be consistently measured across different companies.”

Finally, touching on the goal of their latest website, De Rosso said: “Most of all, though, we hope our new weekly Top 10 on Netflix will help fans discover new stories and join new conversations— whether it’s understanding your friend’s newfound passion for chess, the value of a won or what’s going on with all those ‘cool cats and kittens’.”
