Gianna Nannini grows up with her father training her to be a tennis player, only for Gianna to stand up to him in favor of her musical dreams.
She leaves for Milan and eventually gets signed to Ricordi, a music label. The film also dives into the downfall she faces when she gets addicted to coke and how her friends and family help her recover.
Beautiful Rebel covers only a fragment of Gianna’s story, including her relationship with Carla and how she ends up working with Conny Plank, who helps her with her international break.
It covers her return to glory, which she calls her true birth. However, the film doesn’t cover the star’s whereabouts now.

Gianna Nannini recently released her new music project, titled Sei nel l’anima, which coincides with the Italian title of the Netflix film.
The album was released on March 22, 2024, five years after her last release. Gianna Nannini will also be hopping on an international tour for the album in the autumn of 2024.
