Yeo Jeong-Woo didn’t have a terrific social life growing up, but in adulthood, he found some he could call his true friends. Bin Dae-Yeong, a student he meets during his college days, turns out to be his closest friend until a rough patch.
Doctor Slump follows two doctors who both face their worst slumps as adults. For Yeo Jeong-Woo, it comes when he’s framed for a patient’s death during surgery.
Amidst all the chaos and losses, he was comforted by Min Kyung-Min, but he turned out to be a snake.
College days
Meanwhile, a former best friend of Jeong-Woo kept his distance, because they had a rough patch in the past.
This former best friend is Bin Dae-Yeong, who used to be best mates with Jeong-Woo during their college days.
He helped out Dae-Yeong tremendously and the latter was always so thankful for it, and for him.
Dae-Yeong eventually passed his medical license exam and became a doctor, thanks in significant part to his friend as well.
The trigger
Everything was going well until their Professor needed someone to go to Africa with him for Voluntary Medical Service.
Before Jeong-Woo could volunteer, Dae-Yeong did. However, a fall through the stairs ends up putting his arm in a cast, so Jeong-Woo has to go to Africa instead of him.
The documentary made of the volunteer doctors ends up being a big hit and Jeong-Woo becomes a star doctor.
When he returns, Dae-Yeong expresses his resentment as he is jealous.
The fight & reconciliation
The two fight each other like children and ever since there has been tension between the two, even though they both care for each other.
Years later, during a field trip with Ha-Neul and Hong-Ran, the two former best mates, who have again returned to their old days in terms of their bond, reconcile with their past resentments.
Jeong-Woo reveals he was hurt that Dae-Yeong didn’t greet him after he returned from Africa even when he canceled his own vacation and plans to go in his place.
Dae-Yeong apologizes and also reveals it was out of jealousy, which itself was borne out of a rough patch in his life during that time.
He was mentally unwell after filing for divorce and having dealt with his nightmarish in-laws.
The two put it all behind themselves and apologize to each other, before continuing about their friendship as usual.
