Teri: Baby Reindeer character explained

Teri is Donny’s brief love interest who helps him grow significantly in life. Nava Mau plays the character.

Donny meets Teri through a trans-dating website and they get along quite well in a short period.

Teri is a transwoman and initially, Donny is slightly embarrassed to be seen with her. He keeps their dates on the outskirts of the city to avoid running into anyone he knows.

He also has to worry about the threat of Martha, who has been pestering him constantly with strange emails and visits to the bar.

Teri is a therapist who moved to London a few years ago and when she finds out about Martha, she asks Donny to shut it down immediately.

Too much drama

Donny uses a fake name and career on his profile so Teri doesn’t know the truth about him.

After a particularly good date, they are headed back home when Donny gets overwhelmed and ditches her.

He eventually feels bad and comes clean to her in an apology, but it doesn’t help. She shows up for his semi-final and has her first encounter with Martha.

Teri wants to talk things out but Donny urges her to run away with him. They go to a bar and Martha tracks them down.

She assaults Teri and insults her before calling her a man which makes Donny snap. He threatens to call the police and Martha stays away.

Teri asks Donny to report the situation to the police but Donny leaves the important details so the police don’t take him seriously.

Teri and Donny grow closer, but Donny’s past trauma of being sexually abused affects his ability to perform with her.

She is hurt by this until Donny obsesses over Martha’s disappearance and regains his sex drive.

Even though things are alright between them, Donny insists that he and Teri stay inside all the time and this frustrates her.

Finally, she has enough and tells him that she can’t be with him anymore. After Martha is sent to jail, Donny snoops on Teri and finds that she has moved on.
