Plot summary

On the Motherworld, one thousand kings ruled unchallenged in succession. The lust for power saw them destroy their planet and then send armies across space to conquer everything they could.

That was until the King and the Queen were struck down by an assassin’s blade. In the aftermath, a revolution begins, and in the absence of the sovereign, a senator named Balisarius declares himself regent.

To show his power, he sends his most brutal commander into the outer reaches of the Motherworld’s dominion to crush anyone who is revolting against the Motherworld.

Admiral Atticus Noble of the Empire lands on a small moon called Veldt, looking for food supplies for his army.

A farmer named Gunnar plays too smart, and Noble makes an example of what will happen if they cross them by killing the father of the village. Noble demands his harvest within 10 weeks before leaving.

Kora, a former soldier of the Motherworld who lives on Veldt, is encouraged to find the rebels the Noble is looking for, unite them, and fight against the Motherworld.

After saving a girl from being raped by Motherworld’s soldiers, Kora takes this seriously. Along with Gunnar, she goes in search of such warriors.

On their way, they cross paths with Kai, a mercenary who is an ultimate opportunist. He volunteers to help the two of them find the warriors they need to fight the army of Noble.

The first warrior they recruit is Tarak, who is guilty of going against the Motherworld and is willing to fight alongside Kora. However, he first deals with the debt he has over his head before joining them.

Nemesis, a swordmaster, is the second warrior to join them. The group also finds General Titus, once a hero of the realm who turned his forces against the Motherworld. They sober him up before giving him a chance to avenge his fallen soldiers.

Lastly, the group attempts to recruit siblings Darrian Bloodaxe and Devra Bloodaxe, who are being actively hunted by the Motherworld.

Only Darrian agrees to join Kora after learning how, because of their revolution, Veldt is suffering. Darrian is joined by a few of his loyal soldiers, and Kora gets the army she wants.

However, Noble is not far away, as once Kora and her warriors leave, he lands on Sharaan, where King Levitica has given the Bloodaxe siblings shelter.

Ending explained:

Kai betrays Kora and her warriors

Kora notices that something is off about Kai’s behavior. In a matter of moments, Kora and her warriors are attacked and taken captive by Noble and his army.

Kai, being the ultimate opportunist, is handing Kora and her friends to Noble. Every warrior Kai has helped Kora recruit is an important arrest for the Motherworld.

Kai had realized that, with Kora’s idea of resistance, he could easily round up all of these warriors, who all have a reason to fight against the resistance. Hence, he decided to seize this opportunity.

Even Noble points out how all of these arrests will help him in his career’s advancement.

Gunnar saves everyone

Gunnar is the one who is asked to execute every warrior one by one, starting with Kora, with whom he is in love.

Gunnar, however, looks for an opening, sets Kora free, and kills Kai instead. A battle breaks out, and every warrior from Kora’s group is freed.

The likes of Darrian lose their lives in this battle, while Kora gets a chance to face Noble on her own. She succeeds in defeating Noble, who falls from a height after being hit by her.

Noble is not dead

Gunnar corrects the mistake he made earlier by saving every one of Kora’s warriors. They see this as a significant victory, as Motherworld will take a step back now and think. The warriors leave for Veldt, where they will be paid.

Meanwhile, Noble’s body is recovered by the people of Motherworld. He is treated and hooked to a machine that helps him talk to Balisarius.

Balisarius is the adopted father of Kora. He took her in after destroying her world. He is not happy to hear that his daughter is now part of the blossoming insurgency.

Balisarius demands Noble to end the insurgency to the last man. However, he must bring Kora alive to Balisarius, who wants to crucify her in the shadow of the Senate.

In case Noble fails, he will be the one executed in place of Kora.
