Oh Yu-Ra: Marry My Husband character explained

Oh Yu-Ra is one of the antagonists in Marry My Husband. BoA plays the character in the revenge fantasy drama, available to stream on Prime Video.

When Kang Ji-Won and Yu Ji-Hyuk begin their relationship and spend some quality time together, their blissful union is cut short by the arrival of his ex-fianceé, Oh Yu-Ra.

She is vindictive, unhinged, and dangerous, and she’s here to snatch Yu Ji-Hyuk back but also punish Ji-Won for daring to steal him away from her, to begin with.

Change of mind

Oh Yu-Ra is the child of another wealthy family and she and Ji-Hyuk have been friends since childhood.

Naturally, they were arranged to marry each other. Back then, Yu Ji-Hyuk was not mentally free enough to make choices and just nodded along to whatever came his way.

So he agreed to the engagement. However, his indifference ticked even Yu-Ra off, so when he asked to call the engagement off, she agreed and broke it off.

However, when she learns that Kang Ji-Won has entered Ji-Hyuk’s life during a point when he’s gone through a complete makeover of personality and style, Yu-Ra is alerted.

What seemed to her like an easy grab and uninteresting at first, now felt to her like a prized possession that rightfully belonged to her.

To take back what’s hers

She has always been violent and scary when it comes to being possessive about things she considers hers and hers alone.

So she uses the same approach with Yu Ji-Hyuk. She comes to Korea and starts mingling well with his grandfather, who already is quite fond of her.

She then meets up with Ji-Won, alone. She calls her words and taunts her for being a greedy woman trying to go after Ji-Hyuk’s wealth.

Even when Ji-Won apologizes and says she has broken off her relationship with Ji-Hyuk, Oh Yu-Ra wants more.

She wants to punish Ji-Won, for being so daring as to steal what belongs to her. So she begins planning to kill her.

Killing Ji-Won

She tasks Min-Hwan with the job, and he involves Jeong Su-Min, who in turn tasks her father to do the job.

However, Yu Ji-Hyuk manages to save Kang Ji-Won’s life by sacrificing himself and getting hospitalized in the process.

Su-Min’s parents go into hiding, and since they’re such liabilities, Yu-Ra orders her secretary to kill them.

Meanwhile, Su-Min presents evidence she finds of her parents and Yu-Ra discussing Ji-Won’s hit job with each other.

Yu-Ra now wants Su-Min out of her way too. The perfect opportunity arrives when Min-Hwan finds that his spouse’s death by injury will give him a hefty sum in insurance money.

Failure and death

He goes to Yu-Ra and tells her his plan to kill Su-Min, asking her for help in the cleanup and the arrangement of the perfect circumstances to kill Su-Min.

However, Su-Min survives and kills Min-Hwan. Meanwhile, Yu-Ra learns that Su-Min’s parents are not dead, and are ready to be arrested and rat her out to the police.

This happened because her secretary was approached by Ji-Hyuk after he recovered from his injuries.

Ji-Hyuk asked him to work for him or face dire consequences, and the secretary accepted the offer.

He gave away the position of the car that he left Su-Min’s parents to die in, at Yu-Ra’s orders.

Ji-Hyuk and his men quickly reach the car after Yu-Ra leaves the scene, and save Su-Min’s parents.

The prosecution now has a strong case against Oh Yu-Ra, who tries her best to leave the country before the travel ban is activated for her.

On her way to the airport, Yu-Ra crashes her car and passes away as a result, much in the same way as Ji-Hyuk died in his previous life, implying that his fate got transferred to her this time around.
