Neil Pereira, a man who is dissatisfied with his life, learns from his mistakes and starts appreciating what he has. In Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Adarsh Gourav plays Neil.
Neil is a gym trainer who is insecure about his life. He aspires to a better life, hoping to open his own studio one day. However, he cannot pursue this dream due to financial constraints.
Neil comes close to realizing his dream when his friends offer to become his business partners and help him open his studio.
Neil’s insecurities
Neil constantly compares his life to others and focuses on what he lacks. Due to this, he does not get along with his father, who is not as ambitious as Neil.
His father keeps asking him to save his money, but Neil does not value his advice, as he does not think much of his father and the life that he has created for himself.
One of Neil’s clients, Lala, is an influencer, and Neil starts dating her. Neil is very serious about his relationship with Lala, but the same cannot be said about Lala.
Lala likes Neil, and they grow close, but she keeps avoiding meeting his friends or making their relationship public, stating that she needs to seem single to her followers.
Neil feels uneasy about Lala’s relationship with Kartik, the man whose brand she is endorsing, but he trusts her when she says that their relationship is strictly professional.
When Lala finally meets Neil’s friends, one of his best friends, Imaad, writes a comedy set on Neil’s relationship, pointing out all the problems that Neil refuses to see.
His set hits a nerve, and Neil ends up fighting with Imaad. He hurts his friend by saying hurtful things to him.
Going astray and finding your way
After his fight with Imaad, things only get worse for Neil. Being disrespected by his clients and coworkers makes him even more insecure and angry.
Neil begins venting his frustration by posting hate comments on celebrities’ social media pictures.
Later, he discovers that Lala has shared a photo of her kissing Kartik on social media. When he confronts her about it, Lala remains unapologetic.
She makes it clear that she never thought of herself and Neil as a couple. Neil then makes a comment about Lala being bought by Kartik.
This results in Lala getting Neil fired. A furious Neil once again misuses social media. He hacks into Lala’s account to reveal that she lies to her followers about her life.
While Lala faces online bullying, Neil reconciles with Imaad. Neil then tells his friends that he was the one who hacked into Lala’s account.
His friends reproach him, and Imaad makes Neil understand that Neil is so dissatisfied with his life because he does not see what he has.
Neil realizes that finding flaws in himself is not doing him any good. He apologizes to Lala, owns up to his mistakes online, and is ready to face the consequences of his actions.
Neil changes as a person. When he starts appreciating everything that he has, his relationship with his father improves. He then opens his own studio with his friends.
