Misaki Taniguchi: Tokyo Vice character explained

Misaki Taniguchi is Tozawa’s mistress who is approached by Jake for information about her partner. Ayumi Ito plays the character.

Misaki Taniguchi is Tozawa’s girlfriend and Jake finds out about her and tracks her down. He tries to use his charm to get her to answer some questions but she refuses.

When he bumps into a friend from the US, Jake takes him to a club where they run into Misaki and spend time with her.

She entertains his company but doesn’t share anything of note about Tozawa. She is one of the few people to know about Tozawa’s illness and he deeply cares for her.

When Tozawa collapses during the party, he calls for Misaki and bids her farewell as he travels abroad for treatment.

Playing with fire

When Tozawa doesn’t return for many months, Misaki begins to worry and turns to Jake for comfort.

When Jake and his colleagues look into the Yoshino, they discover that it is registered under Misaki Taniguchi’s name.

He warns her that she might be in trouble and she pleads her innocence in the matter. When the case is dropped after the tape is burned, Misaki reaches out to Jake.

She invites him over and gets intimate with him. They gradually begin an affair with each other.

Misaki Taniguchi has no one else to turn to

After a couple of weeks, Jake gets impatient and asks her if they can do more things as a couple instead of just sneaking around.

She tells him that it is too dangerous and he knows it. When Jake gets an invitation to attend a party at the U.S. embassy, he invites her as his plus one.

She takes some convincing but she ultimately goes along after coming up with a fake name and backstory for herself.

The night is going well until Misaki sees a dignitary whom she has seen with Tozawa before. Out of fear of being recognized, she rushes out of there.

Jake tries to contact her but she doesn’t answer. She cuts off all contact with him as Tozawa returns to Japan and to her life.
