Why are assassins hunting Jeong Ji-An in A Shop for Killers?

Jeong Ji-An loses her uncle, the only family she had, to suicide that’s shrouded in mystery. Soon, a barrage of highly skilled killers begin targeting her.

A Shop for Killers follows a girl named Jeong Ji-An who lost her parents when she was just a young kid.

As her only family left, her uncle Jeong Jin-Man raised her.

His parenting style and guidance were anything but usual, with a heavy and frequent focus on self-defense, tactical knowledge, and learning how to use weapons.

One day while she’s in college, she hears that Jin-Man has died due to suicide.

She goes to the funeral proceedings in Yecheong, where he raised her.

However, soon after the funeral, Ji-An is attacked by snipers, killer drones, and elite mercenaries who want her dead for some unknown reasons.

Jin-Man’s past

Jeong Jin-Man was working as a mercenary for a company called Babylon.

His job entails foreign soils where he and his fellow mercenaries carry off daring and perilous missions.

He’s the leader of his unit which is divided into two visibly opposing factions.

One of them is loyal to Jeong Jin-Man, and the other one sticks to Bale, a psychopathic mercenary of their unit which makes even elite killers nervous.

Bale kills civilians and takes pleasure in it, violating the rules, code of conduct, and all morality and ethics.

Jeong Jin-Man tolerates it for one mission but on the second one, the two face off.

Jeong Jin-Man saves a civilian from Bale and the civilian helps him in his fight against Bale, who is assumed dead after the mission. Jin-Man quits Babylon after that.

Bale lives & the hunt begins

Jeong Jin-Man is warned by Bale as the latter is plunging the knife into his chest.

Bale tells Jin-Man that he needs to kill him right then and there or he will come after his entire family.

Jin-Man plunges the knife deep inside Bale before escaping the building that he and his team had rigged with explosives.

As he sees the building blow up in front of his eyes, he thinks that Bale is dead.

And so do the other colleagues. However, Bale survives the ordeal; even with an eyeless, he’s just as terrifying and psychopathic.

As soon as Jin-Man quits Babylon, General Lee Yong-Han puts men on his tail.

Assassins begin chasing after him. When Bale returns, an all-out hunt for Jin-Man and his family commences.

Bale eventually gets to Jin-Man’s brother and his wife and kills them. Jin-Man manages to protect his niece Jeong Ji-An from the assassins.

As an adult, Jeong Ji-An has come under the attack of Babylon once again, but measures taken by her uncle before his supposed death have proven to be a formidable defense against Bale and his men.
