Gwon Seon-Yul is one of the main characters in the mystery crime drama, Wonderful World. Cha Eun-Woo plays the character in the show.
Seon-Yul works in a metal scrapyard and also moonlights as a spy working for Kim Joon, collecting evidence of his political rivals’ dirty deeds, which Kim Joon uses to eliminate competition.
He respects Kim Joon, who his father used to work for, before his death at the hands of a woman he comes to detest and abhor with all his might.
Oblivious to the fact that he’s being played, he continues to let vengeance drive him and seek revenge on the lady who killed his father.
True identity
Gwon Seon-Yul is Gwon Ji-Woong’s son, who swore revenge on his killer, Eun Soo-Hyun.
After his father’s funeral, he attended her trial and heard her saying she would make the same choice in regards to killing Ji-Woong, were she presented with the chance again.
This only made him seek revenge more. Later on, his mother would get hit by a truck while jaywalking. He believes that’s also Soo-Hyun’s doing.
Planning revenge
He began planning his revenge by getting in her proximity. He volunteered for some jobs at the prison where she was kept and got information on her and her cellmates.
He learned about Jang Hyeong-Ja and the crimes she committed in the past.
When she gets out of prison, Seon-Yul tails Soo-Hyun, in a quest to fool her into thinking he’s the little survivor from the arson incident that Hyeong-Ja wanted her to meet and help lead a good life.
Executing revenge
He wanted her to see him as a person she could trust and feel for. Meanwhile, he also wanted to destroy everything and everyone precious to her.
He has already succeeded in many regards. He sends Soo-Hyun a photograph of her husband committing adultery with a woman, which happened years ago but he spied on them and captured it.
He continues to find new ways to torment Soo-Hyun. Meanwhile, he has also kept the real survivor of the fire incident, Gwon Min-Hyuk, away from Soo-Hyun.
He is helping him out with his debts and medical bills, while also ensuring he doesn’t find forgiveness for the one who killed his parents.
Gwon Seon-Yul uses her best friend Su-Jin’s help to get close to Soo-Hyun’s relatives as well as doing so himself. He also gets the psychology professor to work with him and mislead Soo-Hyun regarding the identity of Hyeong-Ja’s victim.
