Flex X Cop season 1 summary and ending explained

Flex X Cop follows a chaebol brat who gets to become a police officer and put his crime-fighting hobby and cosplaying to actual use. The first season is now available to stream in full on Disney+.

Plot summary

Jin I-Soo gets wrongfully arrested after he fights and beats up a man who turns out to be a dangerous criminal the police have been trying to nab for months.

He’s the second son of the chairman of Hansu Group, so to help save the image of the police, a deal is brokered and he’s made a special cop in order to combat the story in media.

He gets to do for real what he has been doing as a hobby in malls with his friends and employees on a payroll. He joins the Violent Crime Investigation Team 1 at the Gangha Police Station.

The team consists of Lee Gang-Hyun, the no-nonsense leader who arrested him; Choi Kyung-jin, the youngest member of the team; and Park Jun-young, an old friend of Gang-Hyun who is especially annoyed by I-Soo.

Gradually, Jin I-Soo becomes an integral part of the team and helps out solving tough cases, thanks to the vast wealth and resources at his disposal. Meanwhile, his father runs for mayor.

He slowly begins to win over his teammates and eventually helps Lee Gang-Hyun prove her wrongfully fired, former cop father’s innocence by getting the culprits arrested and also the chief who was actually corrupt and in cahoots with the culprits.

Meanwhile, Jin I-Soo’s family begins having issues when a dead body is found on their premise. He turns out to be the biological father of his elder brother, Jin Seung-Ju.

His father Myeong-Chul takes the responsibility in front of the media and withdraws from the mayoral race. I-Soo also makes a discovery regarding his mother’s death, the real cause behind which was kept hidden from him.

He blames his father for her death but Myeong-Chul dies himself shortly thereafter. He learns that his father had nothing to do with it and that he loved his mother and him, but this realization is late.

Jin I-Soo’s family comes to complete ruins when he learns of his brother’s dark deeds both in the past and in the present day. He’s helped navigate these crises by his friends at the station, as season 1 of Flex X Cop rolls the credits.

Ending explained:

Lee Gang-Hyun gets her father justice

Lee Gang-Hyun’s father, Lee Hyung-Jun was a respected and recovered police officer in the same police station who was fired over charges pertaining to bribing.

However, he was framed by one of their own, the current Chief Sung-Gu, who was in cahoots with the leader of a cult, who wanted Lee Gang-Hyun’s investigations into his crimes stopped.

Lee Gang-Hyun finally gets the chance to set things right and prove her father’s innocence when the co-founder of the cult gets killed. She is suspended for a few days in which she infiltrates the cult.

Jin I-Soo also lends help and uses his resources to investigate and infiltrate the cult. He and Gang-Hyun are eventually caught, but before they succumb to drowning in an underground flooded box, their friends from the police arrive.

The cult leader is arrested, and with the evidence left by the late co-founder of the cult, Sung-Gu is arrested and charged. Lee Gang-Hyun is welcomed back to the police and made the Chief.

Jin I-Soo saves Lee Gang-Hyun’s life by performing CPR and the two get significantly closer after that.

Jin Seung-Ju kills I-Soo’s mother

Jin I-Soo’s elder brother, Jin Seung-Ju, has always been kind to him even when his father was cold and unable to become a good father to him, and his stepmother always hated him.

However, Seung-Ju was only ever kind to him out of pity, not genuine care or affection. He was raised by his mother with fears that they would be thrown out by Myeong-Chul and that he must be the leader of the Hansu Group after his father.

When Cho Heeja found out about Jin I-Soo and his mother’s existence, she began throwing greater fits and taking sleeping pills, telling her son that now that his father had found his real son, he’d thrown them out.

Seung-Ju did the unthinkable and killed I-Soo’s mother by spiking her orange juice with his mother’s sleeping pills when he visited her 25 years ago.

Seung-Ju kills Myeong-Chul

In the present, after his part in helping his mother out with the murder of her former lover, who was also his biological father, Myeong-Chul finds out and deems him unreliable.

Myeong-Chul says he wants him and his mother to confess to everything and that he considers letting them into his family a major disappointment.

Seung-Ju wants to get the throne so he kills Myeong-Chul the same way he did I-Soo’s mom all those years ago. He spikes his drink with sleeping pills, and shortly after Myeong-Chul’s death, he takes over as chairman of Hansu Group.

Jin I-soo learns the truth

Jin I-Soo finds out about his father’s death and with the help of his team at Gangha Police Station, learns that he was killed with sleeping pills which is exactly how his mother died.

He first suspects his stepmother, who had visited his house on the day his mother died. However, she has an alibi in the case of Myeong-Chul’s death.

I-Soo then learns that his brother had also visited his house that day, and met his mom. He learns that his fingerprints were also found that day but the police had disregarded them that time because they weren’t in the system so there was no match.

Jin I-Soo confronts Seung-Ju, who finally confesses to his crimes. He tries to kill I-Soo but fails to do so. After reckoning with what he’s done, he confesses to his crimes and faces a life sentence for them.

I-Soo takes over the company but eventually returns to his job as a cop, leaning the chairmanship to his secretary, Mr. Cho Jeong-Hun.
