Asli and Yusuf go through another round of twists and turns in the third and final season of the Turkish melodrama, As the Crow Flies, now streaming on Netflix.
Asli has been one diabolical force of nature as she pounced on every shortcut she could secure to success.
A stan of the icon in the world of journalism, Lale Kiran, she obsessed over getting the same life that her idol enjoys, except without the hard work such an achievement requires.
She meets Yusuf on the way, who’s a similar hustler but with a bit more robust moral compass. The two become a volatile couple who keeps things sexual but never quite honest or sincere.
Things are good between them until they aren’t, and everything from miscommunication, career, and their upbringings play parts in their topsy-turvy relationship.
A new spark
In season 3, Asli enjoys the success of her talk show until Güliz from MON5 asks her back, to co-host The Other Side, with Yusuf.
Asli and Yusuf’s romantic tension is off the charts right out of the gate. There are a lot of unresolved feelings and desires to express other feelings.
However, desires can’t be expressed properly as Yusuf is now in a relationship with Güliz. Asli is rife with jealousy as she vies for his love, the opposite is just as true.
Yusuf has no chemistry left with Güliz, and after Asli’s arrival, he only gets more distant, which increases Güliz’s suspicions that he’s cheating on her.
Then Asli and Yusuf have sex, following a lot of pent-up sexual tension crossing the threshold and bursting into an encounter right in the workplace.
The truth comes out
Asli and Yusuf get awkward after that. Meanwhile, they also play a dangerous game as Güliz looms over them, furious and curious, while they hide the truth from her.
As Güliz finally fires Yusuf after confirming that he has cheated on her, Yusuf and Asli finally come clean to each other about their feelings.
They discuss the sex they had and then they confess their love. They begin a relationship kept secret from everyone, including Güliz, who finally finds out about it.
Güliz ends up having to need medical care and retreats to her home after learning about Asli and Yusuf. She gets her father to help her with revenge.
Her father gathers an assortment of attorneys to sue Yusuf and Asli for all they’re worth, and then some more. Yusuf and Asli are both unemployed and sued to hell.
Do they end up together?
Asli avoids jail but has to return to her parents’ home. Yusuf, meanwhile, thinks about what he must do and if he should confront Güliz and apologize.
Asli leaves a note for Yusuf before she leaves for home, asking him to save himself by apologizing to Güliz, as she would forgive him since she loves him.
He decides on the contrary and begins a job at a call center, determined to not apologize at all. Before the final season ends, Asli is invited by Lale back to Istanbul, where she would help her get her position back.
Asli and Yusuf don’t end up together but the future may still hold a brighter prospect for the two of them.
