A new motion poster for the upcoming Netflix sci-fi thriller ‘1899’, made by the creators of ‘Dark’, has been revealed by the streaming service on Twitter.
The show is set on the sea and based on ships’ mysterious disappearance and appearance. The new motion poster shows a ship on the verge of falling down a triangular hole in the ocean.
Fan theories regarding the Bermuda Triangle’s involvement in the narrative had been rife ever since the show was announced. The poster strongly hints towards this possibility.
The official synopsis for 1899 reads:
“1899 follows the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship from Europe to New York. The passengers, all of different backgrounds and nationalities, are united by their hopes and dreams for a new century and their future abroad.”
“When they discover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had gone missing for months, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare-like riddle, connecting each of the passenger’s pasts through a web of secrets.”
The creators of Dark, Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, recently talked about using the LED virtual production studio called ‘Volume’ to create 1899.
Writer, showrunner and producer Jantje Friese said: “The Volume frees the imagination. This visionary technology offers almost limitless possibilities for historical and fantastic stories.”
Director, showrunner and producer Baran bo Odar added: “Using this state-of-the-art technology, virtual sets and locations can be projected behind the actors in a way that the camera department and actors feel as if they are at the original locations. This helps more than anything else to set the right mood while acting.”
1899 is set to premiere in winter 2022, however, the exact date is yet to be revealed.
