Shizuka: Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead character explained

In Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Tendo meets Shizuka at a supermarket store. At first, she sees the zombie world differently than Tendo. Mai Shiraishi plays Shizuka.

Shizuka proves herself to be a force to be reckoned with when she first meets Tendo. Her combat skills leave Tendo surprised. It’s from her that Tendo learns that zombies are attracted to sound.

Apart from being a competent fighter, Shizuka often makes great use of the surroundings and objects around her to tackle the zombies.

However, when it comes to forming alliances, she doesn’t trust anyone firsthand and shows no interest in joining Tendo.

Unlike Tendo, she doesn’t believe in helping people. She likes to think that, in this new world, rescuing others only brings more trouble. According to her, someone like Tendo, who is always trying to save people, will just keep attracting more danger.

While trapped at a store, Shizuka reveals that she once studied to be a doctor when she helps Tendo with a cut on his hand.

Shizuka joins Tendo and Kencho

Shizuka is one of those on the bus to Marine Paradise Aquarium, which is rumored to be a safe paradise, that crashes. Tendo and Kencho save some of them, including Shizuka.

Much like before, Shizuka continues to stick to her rules of surviving out there alone, but after being saved twice by Tendo and Kencho, she decides to join them, considering that she doesn’t have a car, doesn’t know how to drive, and is better off with someone around her.

A change of heart

Shizuka needed to reach the aquarium. During this trip to the aquarium, Shizuka ends up joining Tendo and Kencho in their attempt to finish Tendo’s bucket list.

Shizuka finally finds a connection with the two and even says thanks to them for saving her at the store. Later, when Tendo once again becomes Kosugi’s slave, she confronts him with his list and admits that being with him changed her.

Shizuka, for the first time, felt like chasing her dreams no matter what because tomorrow doesn’t promise today’s decisions will work. If they stay at the aquarium and keep working for Kosugi, they are no less than zombies.

Shizuka’s speech and watching Kosugi crush his list encourage Tendo to change his decision and live for himself.

In the end, when Tendo asks Kencho and Shizuka to add their wishes to the bucket list before leaving for a trip around the country, Shizuka writes that she wishes to be a doctor who saves everyone.
