Rose: Leave the World Behind character explained

In Leave the World Behind, after witnessing strange incidents, Rose, Amanda and Clay’s daughter, decides to take action to save herself. Farrah Mackenzie plays Rose.

Rose is the youngest of Amanda and Clay’s two children. At the time the family goes on vacation, Rose is watching Friends for the first time. She is so invested in the show that her life revolves around it.

As the family loses access to the internet, all the electronic devices become useless. As a result, Rose cannot watch her favorite TV show. She just has one more episode left before she finishes the show, and she gets quite upset when she has no way of finding out how the characters’ stories end.

At a time when everything else seems hopeless to her, she wants to be happy for the characters she loves. She wants to know how their stories end. When their vacation turns into a nightmare, she does not think that she will get to watch that show ever again.

The survivor

Rose is more perceptive than the adults around her. She is the one who notices the oil tanker heading towards the beach, and it is because of her warning that the family escapes in time. However, more often than not, no one listens to what she has to say.

Later, she notices a herd of deer coming out of the woods. She does not bother telling her parents about the herd, as she knows that they are more worried about other matters to pay attention to her.

Leave the World Behind Rose
Rose thinks that the animals are trying to tell her something

Rose believes that the animals are conveying an important message that should not be ignored. She does share this insight with her brother, Archie, but he does not take her seriously. However, he does follow her into the woods.

She sees another deer there and comes across the house owned by the Thornes. She wants to go to the house, but Archie takes her home. The animals, the loud noises, and everything that she has seen make Rose think that she is not going to survive this.

At night, she tells her mother the story of a man who did not do anything to survive a flood because he believed that God would save him. God sent him help in various ways, but the man drowned and died because he kept rejecting help from others and waited for God to come.

Rose tells her mother that she is tired of waiting. There have been too many signs, and she cannot ignore them anymore. Rose takes all the unusual things that happen to the family as a sign that they should try to save their lives before it is too late.

The next day, she leaves the house without telling anyone and goes to the Thornes family’s house. She eats all the good food that she finds there to her satisfaction. In the end, she is the one who finds the bunker that the Thornes built for emergencies.

The bunker is a safe place and has everything people may need to live there comfortably. Rose also discovers DVDs of her favorite TV show. She puts on the final episode and enjoys the show while her family is still looking for her.

It is not known whether or not Rose’s family makes it to the bunker and lives. However, Rose, who saw the signs that no one else did, survives the catastrophic events.
