Praetorian Guard’s appearance in The Mandalorian season 3 explained

The Praetorian Guard, also known as the Elite Praetorian Guard, made their first chronological appearance in the Mandalorian season 3 in a truly memorable moment.

The Praetorian Guard first appeared in Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi as the personal bodyguards of Supreme Leader Snoke of the First Order, and this latest appearance could be considered their debut in the Galaxy following the fall of the Empire.

Their appearance was similar to that of the Emperor’s Royal Guards as they were clad in red armor and robes and were highly trained individuals in multiple forms of combat and weapons.

A force to be reckoned with

During the meeting of the shadow council, Commandant Hux brings up Moff Gideon’s various requests and scoffs at the fact that he has asked for three Praetorian Guards. Seeing as there are only 8 of them, they wonder aloud what kind of threat he is facing to require three.

After convincing them of the resurgence of the Mandalorians, they agree to his requests and place their trust in him to stamp out this impending menace.

When Paz Vizsla successfully fights off the beskar clad stormtroopers to help his fellow people escape, the three guards show up wielding energy blades of some kind.

Vizsla does his best but he is no match for the three of them at the same time and they dispatch the Mandalorian warrior and walk away to rejoin their leader.

The Praetorian Guards were a formidable foe and it took two Force-wielders, Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker, to defeat them all after Kylo Ren killed Snoke.
