Ted Bundy gets a five-part series by Amazon

After Netflix’s documentary on the high profile serial killer, Ted Bundy, was hugely successful, Amazon is following suit. The online giant will release a five-part docu-series on Prime Video come 2020.

Ted Bundy was a serial killer who, in the 1970s, was charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering dozens of women. However, the actual numbers of victims have been reported to be higher.

While Netflix’s ‘Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes’ focused on his activities through a set of prison interviews and later conviction, the new series will look at his life from another angle.

Titled ‘Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer’, the documentary will be through a female perspective; specifically Bundy’s former girlfriend Elizabath Kendall.

Kendall, who was Bundy’s former partner, will break the 40-year silence on the murderer and how his narcissistic and obsessive way fit perfectly into deceiving women through his ‘boyish’ charm.

Kendall had released a book titled The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy. The book, which was a memoir, was based on her time with Ted in 1981.

Other characters in the series will be the victims who survived his attacks and will narrate their side of the story. It is expected that the show’s presentation will be in the same form of narration as other documentaries are.

The series has been directed by Trish Wood, who is a former investigative journalist in the CBC. One of the key points in the series will be in exploring the narrative’s connection to the feminist movement which was picking up traction during that time period.

A specific release date for the show is still uncertain but will most likely be in 2020.
