The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh part 2 review: A very solid progression of the story

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh part 2 sees Tristan and Lancelot face off against Deathpierce and the Priest to lift the curse off from Elizabeth. The film is streaming on Netflix.

Story

Lancelot reveals his human form to Tristan and Tristan realizes that standing before him is the same boy who used to spar with him when they were younger.

The two princes face off against Deathpierce and his army of empties so that they can put an end to his plan and save Elizabeth from the curse put upon her.

Tristan is hesitant about using the demon powers he inherited but Lancelot gives him the confidence to do it so that they can save the kingdom.

Positives

The 3D animation remains fresh and quite impressive. It is vibrant and never strays into overwhelming territory despite everything that is taking place on screen.

The characterizations of Tristan and Lancelot are crafted well. They are put forth as young rivals who balance each other out but it doesn’t feel like a retread of what has come before.

The allusions to the extended storylines within the spin-offs are kept simple and intriguing, pushing viewers to dive into the series further.

Negatives

Once again, this film would have been better served as one large offering rather than two smaller parts. The split seems unnecessary with each part running under just an hour.

Verdict

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh part 2 ushers the series in an interesting new direction and adapts the arcs of the manga adequately. While some might question the decision to release it as two separate parts, it can still be enjoyed in a single sitting for all the action and decent storytelling.
