Awkward Conversations with Girlfriend review: Hilarious collection of tricky encounters

Envoy Score: 3/5

After a first successful season of Awkward Conversations with Parents, TVF and Screen Patti have come out with the second season titled, Awkward Conversations with Girlfriend. It is a hilarious take on realistic situations which occur between couples. This six episode series is streaming now on YouTube as well as on TVF Play.

Story

Ishan and Ananya have been in a relationship for a long time. So when Ananya happens to come across some of Ishan’s secrets everything goes for a toss.

This leads to some interesting encounters between the two. Be it porn, passwords, girlfriend’s hot friend or bumping into an ex, both Ishan and Ananya face a series of tricky situations which are awkward yet humorous.

The awkwardness reaches another level when Ishan’s parents come into the picture. Some more secrets are revealed and both Ishan and Ananya have to face the music from the folks.

Performances

Undoubtedly, the millennial couple Rashmi Agdekar as Ananya and Ritvik Sahore as Ishan, are refreshing and great to watch. Their on screen chemistry is evident all through the show giving the whole series a bubbly and peppy feel.

Sahore’s performance in an episode where he bumps into his ex is outstanding. The way he expresses embarrassment, innocence, frustration and fear is truly amazing.

Furthermore, Agdekar as a nosy girlfriend is adorable and does well with what her character has to offer during all those awkward conversations.

Positives

Harish Peddinti does a commendable job in focusing on some very common awkward situations faced by many millennial couples in their lives. His story is effectively executed by Abhinav Anand making it a thoroughly enjoyable fare.

Negatives

The negatives are not many and mainly focus on the release pattern and episode length of this otherwise well made web series.

With such short episodes, there is a disconnect if you have to wait for a week to watch the next one. The whole watching experience would have been much better if this was released at once.

Worth it?

Watch Awkward Conversations With Girlfriend to get a glimpse of all embarrassing and piquant situations faced by millennial couples in their relationship and how they override them to keep their courtship intact.
