Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 6 recap & review: It’s Like That

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 6 sees a familiar face from Yuji’s past return with feelings still lingering inside her.

Recap

Todo and Mei Mei meet Jujutsu higher-ups and pitch in for Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Maki, and Panda to be promoted to first-grade sorcerers. This entails new missions and Todo becomes disappointed when he learns he can’t pair up with Yuji for one of said missions.

Meanwhile, Yuko, a girl who was with Yuji in his high school and always had a crush on him, meets Nobara while she’s shopping. She used to be a lot bigger and has now undergone a significant change in her appearance.

Nobara and Megumi talk to her in a restaurant and convince her to ask Yuji out but when he arrives and easily recognizes Yuko with a sort of indifference, Yuko holds off on the confession and instead decides to work on her feelings.

Later on, Utahime takes the trio to the traitor at Jujutsu High. It’s Mechamaru, and they confirm it when the location where Muta’s real body is supposed to be is abandoned.

Meanwhile, Muta is visited by Geto and Mahito, as it’s revealed that he made a deal to work with them in exchange for Mahito to heal his body using idle transfiguration.

Muta claims that their deal is off since they themselves violated it when they attacked the Kyoto students. He then asks Mahito to use his powers and heal him, which he does. Soon afterward, they begin their battle and Muta unveils a colossal Ultra Mechamaru.

Muta plans on informing Gojo about the Shibuya plan but before that, he wishes to exorcise Mahito. He begins his attack just as Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 6 ends.

Review

  • Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 6 is a calm before what seems to be a storm in the upcoming episodes.
  • The Shibuya arc is already here and the grim affairs loom larger than ever.
  • Despite his huge Mechamaru, Muta seems obviously out of his depth and fatality seems imminent and inevitable.
  • It is very wise of Yuko to not go ahead and confess to Yuji now, but one is left wondering or even wanting her to return sometime in the future, and share some more screentime with Yuji, although a different path for her would work just as well too.
