Recap

On their way to Camp Pierce to find Sarah, Ryder asks Luke about the alien shard, and he tells her that he picked it up in the first place because it felt special to him, like it was connected to him and was his to take.

Luke hears voices in his head, alerting him that there is danger nearby. Seconds later, the Movement’s convoy gets attacked by the aliens. Clark, Aneesha, Luke, and Ryder make it out alive, but their car gets into an accident, and they are left behind.

Aneesha, with Ryder and Luke’s help, pulls an injured Clark out of the car. They are stranded in the middle of nowhere with aliens lurking around. Aneesha gives Clark first aid and tells him that Luke could hear aliens in his mind when they first arrived.

Ryder thinks that Luke is special and assures him that hearing the aliens does not make him strange. Eventually, the other members of the Movement who were left behind find them, and they all decide to get out of there before it gets dark.

Luke senses danger once again and warns the rest of the group. His warning helps them get out of the woods in time and reach the place where the rest of the vehicles are waiting for them, but a little girl gets left behind. Annesha risks her life and goes back for her.

Aneesha finds the girl, but just when she returns, she encounters an alien. Seeing his mother in danger, a terrified Luke steps forward and commands the alien to stop. He gets into the alien’s mind and controls it. The alien is subdued for a while, and the group is able to escape.

Meanwhile, Jamila’s group has reached Paris, and they decide to spend the night at Monty’s parents’ apartment. When Monty gets there, he realizes that his father is cheating on his mother. He comes to live in this apartment with another woman, and that is why he has never brought his children to this place.

At night, Caspar does not respond to Jamila in her dreams, and she feels him getting further away from her. She wakes up and shares her concerns with Monty. He also confides in her about his father’s infidelity and his father not loving his family.

They comfort each other and grow closer than ever before. The next day, the two of them, along with Alfie and Penny, reach the hospital where Caspar is supposed to be. They look for Caspar in the ravaged hospital, but to no avail.

Jamila finds Caspar’s head equipment and thinks that Caspar is dead. She loses all hope and cries, as she put her friends in danger for nothing. Monty comforts her and tells her that he is glad that he accompanied her, even if it was all for nothing.

When they are leaving the hospital, Penny hears something. The group finds Caspar alive and conscious. Seeing Caspar makes Jamila happy, and that upsets Monty, as he knows that his bond with Jamila will not be the same anymore.

Caspar tells them that when he woke up, he heard the aliens all around him and got scared. He has been hiding here since then and has been drawing something on the wall. The group turns to him and asks him what they should do next.

Nikhil and Maya question Mitsuki about her encounter with the entity. She tells them that she saw herself and a boy she does not know. Mitsuki could see Caspar and herself because she was seeing the memories of the entity.

She wants to go back to the room, but it is evident to her doctor and Maya that she is not in the condition to go. However, Nikhil ignores their advice and decides to send her in, but he does allow Maya to baseline her first.

Mitsuki is hearing the aliens in her mind, and she does not seem to be fine when Maya baselines her. Maya then makes her talk about her relationship with Hinata, as she wants to understand it better than the entity because the entity keeps using it against Mitsuki.

Mitsuki admits that she believes that she left Hinata behind, but Maya disagrees. Mitsuki refuses to talk to her about Hinata anymore and goes back to the room to communicate with the entity. Once again, it is Hinata’s voice that she hears.

Mitsuki asks the entity to take her to the place where it took her the last time they spoke, and the entity asks her to take off her helmet. Mitsuki does as she is told when the entity tells her that she wants to show her what it is.

Mitsuki gets to see one of Hinata’s memories. Hinata’s voice tells her about the memory and tells her that she can be with her. However, Mitsuki is able to distinguish reality from illusion. She tells Hinata that she loves her, but she is aware that this is not real.

Maya wants to pull Mitsuki out, but Nikhil refuses. An analyst who has been monitoring Mitsuki notices her hand movements and realizes that Mituki is sending them a message in Morse code. Mitsuki wants them to disrupt the magnetic field.

The entity pulls back, and Mitsuki passes out. When she wakes up, she admits to Maya that she almost lost herself when she was in the entity’s mind. However, her efforts bore fruit, as the entity emitted an array of previously undetected vibration frequencies.

Mitsuki hears it and comes to the conclusion that this is the aliens’ language, as it is in her head as well. She now plans to learn their language, find their weaknesses, and use them against the aliens the way they have been using her weaknesses.

Review

  • The segment involving Aneesha and the Movement is the most thrilling part of the episode. Common elements, like the fog and the silence in the forest, are used to make a terrifying scene in which a single alien is depicted as a dangerous predator.
  • Luke’s connection to the aliens adds a touch of mystery to this segment. His connection to them and the origins of his power over them are introduced as questions that will make the audience come up with their own theories.
  • Like Mitsuki and Luke, Jamila’s group also gains an advantage that can be used against the aliens. However, whether Caspar is still on humanity’s side, or whether he has lost himself completely is another mystery that is introduced in this episode.
