In the tenth episode of Castaway Diva, Mok-ha is forced to choose between her friends and her career. The episode is now streaming on Netflix.
Recap
A conversation with Mok-ha leads to Lee Uk realizing that the more you hide a lie, the bigger it grows. Due to that, he decides to go to the police and confess that his family stole other people’s identities.
He lies to his family about taking flower arrangement classes because he does not want them to know that he has been going to the police station to answer the police’s questions.
Mr. Jung’s sudden visit scares Ms. Song, but Mok-ha stands her ground. She calls the police and reports Mr. Jung for stalking her, even though Ms. Song is scared of the police finding out about their identity theft.
Lee Uk and Woo-hak come home and tell Mr. Jung that Lee Uk has already confessed. An enraged Mr. Jung tries to attack Mok-ha, but Woo-hak saves her from him. Woo-hak almost hits Mr. Jung, but Mok-ha and Lee Uk stop him.
While Mr. Jung is arrested and taken to the police station, Woo-hak is taken to the hospital by his parents. By the time Bo-geol comes home, Mok-ha is the only one there. She asks Bo-geol not to waste his time and emotions on Mr. Jung because he does not deserve it.
At the same time, the bodies of the real Kang family are found. The fact that Lee Uk’s family stole their identities becomes sensational news. People spread rumors about them. As a result, Woo-hak and Bo-geol end up quitting their jobs.
The family tries to prove to the police that they committed identity theft in order to protect themselves from Mr. Jung. Furthermore, the police need more evidence to charge Mr. Jung for his involvement in Dae-woong’s accident. Mr. Jung still does not regret his actions.
Ran-joo needs to judge Mok-ha’s commitment before signing the termination form and conceding the shares. She speaks to Bo-geol on the phone, and he tells her what made Mok-ha run away and give up on her dreams.
Ran-joo calls Mok-ha to meet her. Mok-ha does not know that she has also asked Bo-geol to come. Instead of making his presence known, Bo-geol chooses to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Ran-joo wants Mok-ha to cut all ties with the Kang family, as she does not want Mok-ha to be involved in a scandal that can jeopardize her career. Ran-joo will only produce Mok-ha’s album and concede the shares if Mok-ha is willing to make that sacrifice.
Mok-ha packs her bags and leaves the Kang family’s house. However, she comes back to get the shoes that Ki-ho gave her when they were teenagers. When she runs into Bo-geol, she tells him that she does not want his family’s scandal attached to her name, as she needs to focus on becoming a singer.
As Bo-geol knows everything, he has already furnished the house that he rented for Mok-ha the day he found her on the deserted island. Bo-geol asks her to become a successful singer and assures her that she can come back to their house whenever she needs.
Mok-ha breaks down after Bo-geol leaves her. She then starts working on her album with Ran-joo, who signs the termination form. Ran-joo believes that Mok-ha’s success is necessary for everyone’s happy ending.
Mok-ha was the beginning of Ran-joo and President Lee’s relationship as well as RJ Entertainment. Ran-joo does not want to regret her decision to join President Lee’s agency, so she wants to do everything that she can to make Mok-ha a star.
Bo-geol informs his family that Mok-ha has cut ties with them. He lies to his family and tells them that he asked Mok-ha to do that. This breaks Woo-hak’s heart. Woo-hak admits to his father that his feelings for Mok-ha did not go away despite his best efforts.
Ran-joo works hard to ensure that Mok-ha’s album is perfect; she tries to give her the best of everything. However, Ran-joo and Mok-ha find themselves caught up in yet another scandal.
A journalist writes an article that claims that Ran-joo did not perform on Heyday Again for her fan, Mok-ha, but because she wanted half of the company’s shares. Ran-joo gets bad press and is ready to take all the blame.
However, Mok-ha does not want her to sacrifice her reputation for her. Mok-ha is not giving up on her dream, but she is not going to let Ran-joo face the consequences of their actions all by herself.
Meanwhile, Lee Uk tells his family that the prosecutor wants to cross-examine them, and Ms. Song agrees to take their case forward. Dae-woong also wakes up in the hospital, which means he will be able to testify against Mr. Jung.
Review
- The episode depicts how laws and society fail to protect Ms. Song and her children. They had no choice but to break the law for their safety, yet the society shames them.
- The writers try to make the events in this episode as realistic as possible. Mok-ha courageously confronting the gossipmongers only makes Bo-geol feel better, but it does not change anything.
- The episode has a number of surprises in store for the audience. Apart from Ran-joo signing the termination form, Mok-ha’s decision to leave the Kang family for the sake of her career was also quite unexpected.
