Zoya Akhtar confirmed on Instagram that Amazon Prime’s massively popular Made in Heaven will be returning for another season.
The first season premiered on March 8 and quickly became the talk of the town. Its leads, Sobhita Dhulipala (Tara Khanna) and Arjun Mathur (Karan Mehra), received extensive praise from fans and critics alike.
The show also stars Jim Sarbh (Adil Khanna), Kalki Koechlin (Faiza Naqvi), Shashank Arora (Kabir Basrai) and Shivani Raghuvanshi (Jaspreet Kaur) in pivotal roles.
The first season revolves around Tara’s failing marriage with Adil and Karan’s struggle with how homosexuality is viewed in the society. These themes are cleverly interwoven with the dark side of big fat Indian weddings.
Each episode focuses on a different wedding as well as different issues. It’ll be interesting to see what twists the plot sees from here.
The first season was so well received that a second season was all but inevitable. Sobhita even hinted that the show would return during an interview with a popular critic.
The show is a brainchild of Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar who have earlier collaborated for films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadakne Do. Zoya also directed episodes along with Nitya Mehra, Prashant Nair and Alankrita Shrivastava.
